You probably take your iPhone calculator app for granted. Of course, thereYou can use it several times a week, but you don’t really use it give a lot think beyond thatdo you? Well, this little workhorse can do a lot more than you think, from scientific calculations to more hidden features.

Easily turn it into a scientific calculator

As long as you have disabled your iPhone’s rotation lock (which you can do from Control Center), turn the phone on the side in the Calculator app to get access to a full-fledged scientific calculator app.

Delete numbers with a single swipe

OK, fine, you probably don’t need often a scientific calculator, but you do probably need to delete only one numbers on occasion: Just sswipe left or right near the top of the screen to remove one number quickly without having to start your entire calculation over again.

Erase quickly just current figures—or all of it

You’d be forgiven if you ever mixed up the functionality of the “VS” button relative to “THATbutton. Here’s the difference: If you want to erase the digits you just typed on the screen, the “VS” or the (Delete) button will do it without deletion all the previous steps. Jhe “THAT” (All Clear), on the other hand, will erase the number you just typed and all the previous steps in the calculations, so you start from square one.

There are two ways to copy the last result: Tap and hold the numbers at the top, then press the “Copy” Where press and hold the Calculator app, then directly copy the last result without even opening the app itself.

Calculate without the Calculator app

Our final tip has nothing to do with the Calculator app, but it’s something every iPhone user should know.. Just like on the Mac, the iPhone has a basic calculation function built into the search function. This means you can perform calculations just by swiping down on the home screen.

Spotlight will let you do basic calculations, but it also includes currency conversion and unit conversion (which not even the Calculator app can do). Oh, and if you’re not in the mood to type, you can ask Siri to calculate the results for you.
