Free Training Planned for New UNL Farm Budget Calculator Program | Farm and ranch

LINCOLN – The Center for Agricultural Profitability at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has scheduled a series of virtual training workshops for new and advanced users of the Farm Budget Tool (ABC).

The ABC is a free online business budgeting and decision-making tool that allows users to view college harvest budgets and enter their own data to create custom business reports that reflect how which their agricultural resources are allocated. It is designed to help agricultural producers determine their production costs and forecast monetary and economic income for various farm or ranch businesses.

The training sessions will be led by Glennis McClure, extensionist and farm and ranch management analyst in the Department of Agricultural Economics. Classes include an introduction to the program which covers customizing grow budgets, a session on more advanced options such as full farm program features, and dedicated Q&A sessions on ABC.

“It’s always important to estimate the cost of production for our farm businesses, but now, with the volatility of input and crop prices, it’s even more critical,” McClure said. “Knowing your estimated cost of production can help you make important management decisions. “

Each course will be offered several times before February 8, via Zoom. Their participation is free, but registration is mandatory at https://cap.unl.edu/abc/training.
