If you want to save money on your car loan or pay it off sooner, adjusting the amount you pay per month can help. This auto loan repayment calculator can show you these potential savings and highlights how long it will take to pay off your auto loan in each scenario.

How to use this car loan repayment calculator

To use the calculator, make sure you have the following information:

  • Vehicle purchase price: This is the amount you financed to purchase your vehicle.
  • Term of the loan: The length of time (in months) that you agreed to repay the amount you borrowed. For example, 60 months is a common auto loan term.
  • Annual percentage rate (APR): This is the auto loan interest rate you agreed to pay, expressed as an annualized percentage, including any applicable lender fees.
  • Months remaining: The number of months you have left on your loan.
  • Increased monthly payment: The amount you want to increase for your monthly car payment (if any).
  • Current monthly payment: This is the amount you are currently paying for your loan each month.
  • Loan term shortened by: The number of months in your loan would be reduced if you increased your payment amount.
  • Total interest savings: The amount you will save in interest if you make the additional payments suggested by the calculator.

Benefits of prepaying your car loan

Paying off your auto loan earlier than expected has some notable benefits:

  • You will have more money in your budget each month.
  • You will pay less interest over the life of the loan.
  • You will be the free and quit owner of your vehicle, so you can resell it if necessary and/or more easily buy a new vehicle if that is your goal.

Risks related to the prepayment of your car loan

There are also some risks to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to prepay your car loan:

  • Your lender may impose a prepayment penalty, so check with them before deciding to pay off the loan too early so you don’t owe more than expected.
  • Your credit score might drop temporarily when the loan is closed, which happens automatically when the loan is paid off. So if you’re planning on taking out another loan soon, like a mortgage, you might want to put off paying off the car loan until you’ve secured the new loan.
  • You might have other debts with a higher interest rate that you should focus on paying off first.

Tips to pay off your car loan faster

There are different strategies to pay off your car loan faster. Here are a few things to consider:

  1. Pay more than the minimum. One of the easiest ways to pay off your car loan sooner is to pay more money each month. For example, you can simply round up your payments to the nearest dollar to reduce the balance or make an extra payment from time to time.
  2. Put any bonus cash towards the loan. Another option is to make a lump sum payment for your car loan. Maybe you got a big tax refund or received a bonus at work.
  3. Refinance at a lower interest rate. If you can get a lower interest rate than your original loan, refinancing your car loan could help you pay it off faster.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How quickly can I repay my car loan?

As long as your lender doesn’t have any restrictions (like imposing a prepayment penalty), you can pay off your car loan anytime you want without penalty. Just be sure to consider your current budget and your cash flow needs in the near future.

Should I refinance my car loan instead?

Auto Loan Refinance can also be a good idea and might even make more sense than trying to pay off the entire loan faster. For example, if the the car loan is relatively new and you haven’t made many payments yet, refinancing may be a better idea than trying to pay more over the remainder of the loan term.

Another consideration is your credit. If your credit score has improved since you took out the loan, you might be better off refinancing to save money since you’ll likely qualify for a lower interest rate.

You can also consider refinancing if you need help making your monthly payments. If you refinance, you will have the option of extending the term of the loan, which can lower your monthly payments. Just keep in mind that going this route will cost you more in interest over the life of the loan.

Related: Best Auto Loan Refinance Lenders

Are there penalties if I repay my car loan more quickly?

Some lenders charge a prepayment penalty, but not all. This means that if you pay off your car loan before a certain date, you may be charged additional fees. Always check your loan agreement or contact your lender if you are unsure.

(09/28/22)
IATA, in partnership with Etihad Airways, is preparing to test a tool for calculating CO2 emissions specifically developed for cargo flights.

The trial will provide valuable proof of concept for the freight component of the IATA CO2 Connect Carbon Calculator.

IATA has successfully provided IATA CO2 Connect for passenger flights since June this year, with actual fuel consumption data for 57 aircraft types representing approximately 98% of the active global passenger fleet. The calculator uses airline-specific data on fuel consumption and load factors, making it one of the most accurate on the market.

Etihad Cargo A350F

“Aviation will achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. And our customers – travelers and shippers – need accurate information about emissions related to their activities to manage their own commitments and reporting obligations,” said said Frederic Leger, IATA senior vice president for commercial products. & Services. “For all of these purposes, accurate data is essential. IATA CO2 Connect already offers it for passenger operations. This trial with Etihad will help us bring an industry-leading carbon calculator to freight in the months to come.

Calculating the carbon impact of freight shipments has more difficult parameters, including the unpredictability of the route when booking an air freight shipment which can often include non-air segments. Moreover, cargo can be transported both on dedicated cargo planes and in the belly of passenger planes.

IATA will work with Etihad Cargo to track data needed for cargo shipments during a three-month trial. Etihad will share flight data and advise on various use cases to achieve the highest levels of accuracy, consistency and transparency.

By mid-2023, IATA aims to launch CO2 Connect for Cargo by providing the industry with accurate and consistent methodologies for passenger and cargo operations.

“The airline’s development with IATA demonstrates the ability and willingness to co-create solutions to support Etihad Cargo’s journey towards net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and demonstrates the agility of the carrier to adopt cutting-edge technology and digital solutions,” said Martin Drew, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Cargo at Etihad Aviation Group. “IATA’s CO2 Connect Carbon Calculator will be an effective tool in making freight transport more sustainable and will benefit not only Etihad Cargo’s customers, but also the wider air cargo industry in the future.”

IATA CO2 Connect is available for companies inside and outside the travel value chain, such as TMCs, travel agencies, airlines or multinationals. They can access relevant CO2 emissions data and integrate it in a personalized way into their existing flight booking tools so that travel managers and/or travelers can easily see CO2 emissions by itinerary. The tool also allows data consolidation for reporting purposes.

In his first political speech as chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng announced a major overhaul of the tax code. The basic rate of income tax will be reduced for the first time in 15 years to its lowest level ever, and the additional rate imposed on top earners will be eliminated entirely. Along with a series of other measures, the government has made it clear that it sees economic growth as the way out of the current crisis.

In March, then-Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced plans to cut the basic rate of income tax from 1% to 19% before the end of Parliament in 2024.

Under plans announced by Mr Kwarteng on Friday, that reduction will now be brought forward by a year – taking effect from the start of the next financial year in April 2023.

The Chancellor claimed 31 million people will benefit from the policy, allowing them to keep an extra £170 on average.

Mr Kwarteng said: ‘This means we will have one of the most competitive and growth-friendly income tax systems in the world.’

The total value of the tax cut for workers, savers and pensioners is over £5billion according to the government.

The current income tax system is divided into four brackets: personal allowance, basic rate, higher rate and additional rate.

All income up to £12,570 is tax free – this is the personal allowance. The base rate of 20% applies to annual earnings between £12,571 and £50,270.

Annual earnings between £50,271 and £150,000 are taxed at the top rate of 40%.

Every pound earned over £150,000 is currently taxed at the additional rate of 45%.

In Friday’s mini-budget, Mr Kwarteng announced that this additional rate of income tax would be eliminated entirely.

From 6 April 2023, the top rate of 40% will become the top rate at which all income over £50,271 will be taxed.

The Treasury says it will cut taxes for around 660,000 people from April next year.

The removal of the additional rate was also hailed as a measure to simplify the tax system which would improve the UK’s competitiveness. According to the government, 25 of the 38 OECD countries had four or more personal tax rates in 2021.

The provision which reduces the non-taxable personal allowance from £12,570 to a rate of £1 for every £2 earned over the £100,000 threshold – thus disappearing entirely after £125,140 – remains unchanged.

So how much tax will you save next year with the new rate? Enter your earnings in the search box below to find out…

These two changes to the tax code apply to income other than savings and dividends for people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland – income tax rates differ in Scotland.

Mr Kwarteng also confirmed that the government would cancel the latest 1.25% National Insurance hike on November 6, as well as the planned increase in corporation tax next year.

The cap on bankers’ bonuses will also be scrapped and the threshold below which no stamp duty is payable on the purchase of a house will be doubled to £250,000.

This is all part of the 2022 growth plan, prioritizing an expansion of the UK economy above all else with a target rate of 2.5% per year.

The Chancellor said: “For too long in this country, we have been engaged in a struggle for redistribution. Now we need to focus on growth, not just how we tax and spend.

Audio Advice, the North Carolina-based home electronics retailer, has developed a free interactive projector throw distance calculator. The 3D tool provides consumers and home theater installers with the ideal projector placement to achieve optimal image brightness for different screen sizes in their home theater designs.

The Projector Throw Distance Calculator allows a user to interactively change the screen size, screen gain, and chosen projector to calculate the throw distance. Users can modify any entry and see the impact on the design.

Audio Advice’s showrooms in Raleigh and Charlotte feature retail space showcasing a range of audio and acoustic technologies, including one of the best selections of high-performance products in the United States. The company also has one of the fastest growing consumer electronics e-commerce sites in the United States.

The projector selection tool

Audio Advice’s web-based calculator uses projector-specific measurements from the dealer’s internal test lab, providing a more accurate result than using marketing specifications that differ from brand to brand. The tool saves consumers and installers time by providing a minimum, maximum, and ideal throw distance for a given room setup and projector.

Additionally, Audio Advice has tested the noise level of projectors, allowing users of the tool to choose the right projector and find the right mounting location in their room to minimize unwanted decibels for viewers.

Scott Newnam - Audio Advice Copy Home Theater

Scott Newnam, CEO of Audio Advice

“Consumers and installers know that brands use different standards to indicate their lumens and other specs, but most don’t have the resources to test that many projectors on their own. For example, we calculated the actual brightness of the projectors and measured the drop in brightness as the projectors move away from the screen,” said Scott Newnam, CEO of Audio Advice. “What a lot of people don’t know is that every projector has a different brightness loss as the projector moves away from the screen. By integrating this data into the tool and providing fan noise levels, consumers and installers can now quickly find the ideal projector and projector location for their project. »

The tool even includes projector-specific horizontal and vertical offsets for situations where you need to place the projector off center or potentially higher than normal. In real time, the tool produces a final brightness level that allows users to assess whether the chosen projector works in their setup and is sufficient for HDR viewing.

For consumers and installers looking to design an entire cinema, Audio Advice has simultaneously integrated the same projector data into its patent-pending free home theater designer. Users can now quickly model an acoustically correct home theater system, including speaker, seat, and riser locations, as well as find the ideal projector and projector position. Installers who have already designed a theater and just need to know the correct placement of the projector will use the Projector Throw Distance Calculator, while those who are designing a complete system from scratch will use the Home Theater Designer.

Audio Advice offers a full suite of free home theater design and education tools, including a comprehensive set of home theater buying guides, how-to videos, inspiration gallery, installation videos home theater, and more.

The Audio Advice Throw Distance Calculator is online today and completely free.

TOKYO — A 63-year-old Japanese man who is an avid iPhone user has devoted some of his post-retirement years to developing a popular and unique app that displays two calculators on a single screen.

The two-in-one calculator app was released for iPhone and iPad, under the name “Twin-Calc”. Hiroyuki Ueda, who lives in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, is the mastermind. Although the app struggled to gain downloads at first after its release, the number increased once it made some adjustment.

The dual calculator app allows users to move calculation results from one calculator to another by pressing the arrow keys displayed in the middle of the screen. For example, if a user calculates “89 x 15 = 1335” on one calculator and presses the arrow key, the result “1335” will be displayed on the other calculator, allowing the user to continue a problem while the equations previous ones are always displayed on the screen. This facilitates the detection of errors.

It is also possible to perform different calculations on each ECU. This feature comes in handy when the user wants to compare prices to see which product in the store is the cheapest per gram, for example.

This image shows the app that combines two calculators on one screen. Users can also perform separate calculations on each calculator. (Mainichi)

Ueda studied mechanical design in college and worked primarily in engineering, including powertrain component design, at an automotive company for many years before retiring at age 60.

He was originally a huge iPhone fan and started learning the Swift programming language as he had free time after retirement. He was finally able to achieve his dream of giving shape to inventions he found convenient.

Ueda drew his attention to calculators because they are closely related to people’s daily lives and are a universal tool without any language barriers. He started crafting the vision for the app three or four years ago and started developing it in August 2021. According to Ueda, an app that combined two calculators on one screen did not exist at this point, and grabbed this chance to make one-of-a-kind software, he aimed to develop apps for the iPhone and iPad.

However, Ueda recalled, “I thought it would be easy, but it was surprisingly difficult.” Difficulties arose when responding to cases of entering numbers with decimal points. For example, while some users enter 0.5 by pressing “0”, the decimal point, and then “5”, there are also users who only enter the decimal point and “5”, omitting the “0 “. He said: “There were about 100 types of these kinds of conditions, and it was a lot of work to solve them.”

Hiroyuki Ueda, the developer of “Twin-Calc”, is seen in this image he provided.

After trial and error, he was able to release the app nine months later in May 2022. The number of downloads initially increased at a slow pace as the app was designed to display a single calculator on the vertical screen mode of the smartphone, while two are displayed only when the screen is turned sideways. Thus, many users only thought that it was an ordinary calculator.

Ueda then made changes so that the application is fixed on a horizontal display and two calculators are always displayed simultaneously after opening the application. This renewed version was released on August 18. According to Ueda, as of September 8, there were about 56,800 downloads for the version that costs 490 yen (about $3) including tax, and some 5,000 downloads for the free version. The paid version had about 18,000 downloads shortly before the renewal, so the amount had more than tripled after the update.

He commented, “A surprisingly large number of people have downloaded the app. I think there’s a demand.” The last task he is working on is to fulfill display requests from two calculators even on a vertical display screen.

Ueda, who says there are few people in his generation who are tech-savvy, commented, “I hope I can become someone who inspires others.”

The energy price guarantee will replace the existing price cap on October 1, freezing bills at £2,500 for the average household for two years.

The move is expected to save households £1,000 a year, but your energy bill could be higher depending on your usage.

This is because the cap is set on what companies can charge customers for the unit price and ongoing charges per unit of energy.

That’s why the consumer site has launched a tool so you can see exactly how much you’ll pay, based on your actual usage.

The new calculator was revealed in the latest MoneySavingExpert newsletter.

You cannot use the calculator if you are a prepaid meter customer – this is because the government has not confirmed what the tariffs will be for such customers.

Prepaid meter customers are charged more for their energy – the current price cap is £46 higher for these customers than those on a standard variable tariff.

You will need important information at hand to use the tool.

You will need your annual energy consumption in kWh (you can usually find it on your bill) or enter your monthly expenses.

Entering your annual energy consumption will show the most accurate results.

You will also need to select your region.

Then you will receive an estimate of what you will pay based on your usage.

The result does not include the £400 energy discount that all households will get this winter.

Be sure to subtract it from your result.

To use the tool, go to the MoneySavingExpert website.

How can I reduce my energy consumption?

Tumble dryers are one of the biggest energy consumers, costing around £1.27 per cycle, according to Uswitch.

Turn it off at the switch and use a drying rack instead to dry your clothes for free.

Turning your thermostat down just one degree can save you £100, according to the Energy Saving Trust.

Although your home is well protected against drafts, you can save £45 a year – you can use old socks and towels to put against your door.

Checking your boiler settings could save you £95 a year – switch off ‘comfort’ mode and lower the flow temperature.

Tearful Becks says

Smart meters can cut your energy bills by £65 a month.

Washing your clothes at 30 degrees instead of 40 could save you an extra £12.

Free online calculator helps quantify impacts to support resilience investments

Power outages can lead to significant costs: loss of data, reduced worker productivity, spoilage of perishables, suspension of production and sales, interruption of essential services, etc. Understanding these potential costs can help facilities justify smarter investments in resilience.

National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) researchers are helping federal facility owners and resiliency planners more easily estimate the costs of power grid outages at their sites using the Customer Damage Function Calculator ( CDF), a free, publicly available resource funded by the US Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP).

The CDF Calculator provides a custom breakdown of outage costs incurred by a facility for outages of varying lengths.

The CDF calculator helps to highlight the vulnerabilities of the installations in the event of an outage and to estimate the variation of the costs according to the different durations of power failure. This is the first step in determining the potential avoided costs associated with resilience investments. Users can calculate the monetary benefits of a redundant (standby) system, provide justifications for improving resiliency, and inform decision-making based on the cost of inaction.

Sean Ericson, researcher and financial analyst at NREL, understands the value of resilience. “Policymakers face many challenges and have limited resources to address them,” he said. “Resilience research informs decision-making by highlighting the most important risks to address.”

NREL researcher Nicholas Gilroy sees a dire need for an accessible planning tool like the CDF calculator. “Agencies are looking to the future. At the site level, facilities can face unprecedented downtime. By illustrating costs and impact through the CDF Calculator, agencies can prioritize investments to mitigate risk and improve resilience,” he said. “We have developed a web-based tool that provides a responsive and modern interface to support federal decision makers.

FEMP Director Mary Sotos said, “We look forward to working with other federal agencies to raise awareness of the capabilities of the CDF calculator and help agencies understand how resilience can be valued in planning and implementation. operation of the facilities.

Tool applications

While a variety of potential applications are possible, the CDF Calculator is primarily designed to help federal agencies meet two use cases:

Federal Institution Decision Support: By illustrating cost and impact through the calculator, agencies can generate monetary values to justify investments in mitigation and resiliency solutions that can help prevent or lessen the impact of a network outage. These outage costs can help site or headquarters management defend resilience investments and help contracting officers think through resilience goals in the procurement of distributed energy resource projects – two examples of how the calculator can support federal energy decisions.

Screening tool: The CDF Calculator is the first step in determining the potential avoided costs associated with resilience investments. Once an interruption cost baseline is identified, an organization can turn to REopt® the web-based tool or the Technical Resilience Navigator tool to develop a risk-informed resilience framework for an entire site, campus, or facility, or to map out a specific potential solution, such as a microgrid.

Using the calculator

The CDF Calculator web tool can be used by:

  • Building owners, energy managers and energy consultants looking to understand the cost of impacts associated with a power outage at their site
  • Utilities to understand outage costs at customer sites
  • Insurance industry experts estimate compound costs of breakdowns over time
  • Researchers or procurement specialists studying the economics and benefits of resilience investments.

How it works

Input installation data: Enter the general information and characteristics of the assessed site. Provide details of total and critical electrical loads.

Estimated costs: Estimate the different types of outage costs (i.e. fixed, deterioration, and incremental) incurred by the facility for power outages of different durations.

Review the CDF: The calculator automatically fills in the results allowing the adjustment of durations and frequencies of failures according to the geographical location of the installation.

The screenshot shows a summary of the Customer Damage Function Calculator downtime costs.
The CDF calculator estimates different types of outage costs. Costs are separated into categories of fixed costs (such as damaged equipment), spoilage costs (such as temperature-controlled research), and additional costs (such as emergency fuel or staff productivity).

The CFD Calculator is developed and maintained by NREL with funding and support from FEMP. Use for free, publicly available CDF Calculator to assess and understand the costs associated with an electrical network outage at your site.

Artificial intelligence (AI)-based fintech company Calculum releases software as a service (SaaS) that measures working capital and payment terms comparison calculator, helping businesses around the world negotiate better terms payment and causing them to unlock millions in cash.

Calculum, a Miami-based data-as-a-service (DaaS) provider, announced the launch of an interactive web-based calculator. This tool will help businesses calculate and negotiate optimal payment terms with their trading partners, improving working capital for businesses worldwide.

According to a recent working capital study, the number of net working capital days (NWC) reached its highest level in five years, caused by the uncertainty of recent years.

While many of the working capital spikes had subsided by mid-2021, the end of government support, high debt levels and continued supply chain disruptions all mean that capital efficiency must be a priority moving forward.

Eugene Buckley, chief revenue officer of Calculum Inc, said, “Currently, we are seeing companies shift their focus from navigating the COVID downturn to growth.

“That said, volatility in supply chains increases working capital pressure. We see that cash flow is on management’s priority list this year. »

Calculum’s research and experience with companies in all key industries in Europe, America and Asia shows that on average more than 5% of annual cost of sales (COGS) can be freed up in cash flow.

Calculum Inc. CEO Oliver Belin said, “AI represents the next frontier in applying data science to help businesses unlock working capital.
